Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Muffins
These Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Muffins are moist, rich, lightly sweet, and packed with melty chocolate chips in every bite. They come together quickly and use simple pantry ingredients you most likely already have at home. These muffins bake beautifully in the air fryer without heating the entire kitchen.

I started making these muffins right after I made my Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Banana Bread. It’s a great way to use up overripe bananas sitting on the counter and wanted something cozy without pulling out the oven.
The air fryer gave the muffins the perfect light golden crust tops while keeping the inside tender and soft. The chocolate chips melt right into the batter, creating pockets of sweetness throughout the muffins.
These muffins are perfect for breakfast with your favorite tea or coffee, dessert, afternoon snacks, or even those late-night sweet cravings when you want something homemade but easy.
Which Air Fryer Is Best For This Recipe
Depending on the model of the air fryer you are using, you will most likely have different settings / temperatures to choose from. Some air fryers require preheating prior to using it, while others do not. I use the Beautiful Air Fryer from Drew Barrymore, and sometimes I also use my oven which has an air fryer setting as well.

Although, both do not require preheating, the oven “air fryer” only has a low temperature of 300 degrees. While the Drew Barrymore air fryer allows more temperature setting for better control.
What You’ll Find In This Recipe
This recipe works because the ripe bananas naturally add moisture and sweetness to the batter, which helps create soft bakery-style muffins without needing complicated ingredients. The butter adds richness while the eggs help hold everything together for a tender crumb.
Using cane sugar gives the muffins a deeper sweetness that pairs beautifully with the bananas and chocolate chips. If you don’t have cane sugar, granulated white sugar will also work.
The addition of vanilla extract enhances the warm dessert-like flavor, while the baking soda helps the muffins rise properly in the air fryer.
The air fryer creates an evenly cooked muffin with lightly crisp edges and soft centers. Since air fryers circulate heat quickly, these muffins bake faster than traditional oven muffins while still developing that golden muffin top everyone loves.
The chocolate chips also help balance the banana flavor so the muffins taste indulgent without becoming overly sweet or heavy.
How To Make These Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Muffins
Start by peeling the bananas and placing them into a large mixing bowl. Mash them well using a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth.
Next, add the melted butter, cane sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs. Mix until fully combined and smooth.
Add the all-purpose flour, Bellans seasoning, and baking soda to the bowl. Stir gently until the batter comes together. Be careful not to overmix the batter because this can make the muffins dense instead of soft and fluffy.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Line your muffin cups or silicone muffin liners with nonstick spray if needed. Fill each cup about ¾ full with batter.
Preheat your air fryer to 320°F if your model requires preheating.
Place the muffins into the air fryer basket, leaving enough room for air circulation. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in batches.
Air fry the muffins at 320°F for 10–14 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean. A few melted chocolate streaks are perfectly fine.
Allow the muffins to cool slightly before serving.

Tips For The Best Banana Muffins
Use Very Ripe Bananas: The darker the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your muffins will be. Overripe bananas also mash easier and create a softer texture.
No Ripe Bananas: If you don’t have overly ripe bananas, here’s what I have done in the past – I would sometimes cut the bananas into pieces, then microwave them. By microwaving the bananas, it softens the bananas, plus it makes it easier to handle the fruit with a fork.
Don’t Overmix The Batter: Mixing too much develops gluten in the flour, which can lead to dense muffins instead of light and fluffy ones.
Check Your Muffins Early: Air fryers cook differently depending on the brand and basket size. Start checking around the 10-minute mark and gradually increase the time if needed.
Use Silicone Muffin Liners (with caution): Though silicone liners work especially well in the air fryer because they hold their shape, and release the muffins easily, sometimes they hold moisture which can prevent the muffins to bake properly.
How Long Will They Last
I like to store my chocolate chip banana bread muffins in an airtight container at room temperature.
They will keep and remain fresh and soft for up to 3 days. muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, refrigerate them for up to 1 week.
You can also freeze the muffins individually wrapped for up to 3 months. Simply thaw or warm them in the microwave before serving.

Can I Add Other Mix-Ins?
Absolutely, of course! These air fryer banana muffins recipe is very flexible. You can add chopped walnuts, pecans, peanut butter chips, or even cinnamon for extra flavor.
You can also swap semi-sweet chocolate chips for dark chocolate chips if you prefer a richer flavor.
